PARIS – LUCOTICIA - LUTECIA

París está ocupado por el hombre desde hace 700.000 años. Los primeros pobladores fueron una tribu celta que se asentó en el siglo III A.C. en las actuales islas de la Cité y Saint-Louis: los parisii. La historia de la ciudad comienza realmente a escribirse durante este periodo. Las islas les proporcionaban subsistencia y una defensa natural contra agresiones externas. Reconocido como punto de paso estratégico hacia el norte del país y el comercio del estaño la vida de este grupo, distinguido por las monedas de oro que acuñaban, llegó a su fin cuando los romanos decidieron ir a Galia y ocuparon su ciudad, Lucoticia.

Nos encontramos en el año 52 A.C. Es la batalla de Lutecia. Los parisii resistieron la invasión romana, pero fueron derrotados. La ciudad de Lucoticia es reconstruida por los ocupantes sobre la Cité también, en la orilla izquierda, a lo largo de la pendiente norte de la montaña Santa Genoveva y la llamaron Lutecia. En los siglos I y II, levantaron murallas, un gran palacio (actual Palais de Justice), un circo (Arenas) y termas (Cluny). Las termas eran alimentadas por un acueducto que recorría el Bièvre, un río que después fluia bajo la ciudad. El monumento era el reflejo de un modo de vida típicamente romano. Lutecia se extendía sobre la ribera izquierda del Sena, lo cual hace pensar en la importancia de esta ciudad para los romanos. Lutecia adquiere forma.

Ya en épocas de decadencia romana, hacia el siglo III, los bárbaros comenzaron a ocupar sus territorios. Juliano se estableció en Lutecia para controlar su avance, pero sus principales ocupaciones eran el ocio y la diversión. En el año 280, la ciudad es destruida por las invasiones bárbaras. El cristianismo llego de la mano de San Dionisio a mediados del siglo III D.C. Cuando los hunos, bajo el mando de Atila, avanzaron desde el norte, los habitantes de Lutecia iniciaron la retirada a tiempo. Desde el siglo IV, Lutecia es rebautizada con el nombre de París. En el año 451 la religiosa Santa Genoveva consigue desviar la codicia de Atila, rey de los hunos. Según las tradiciones medievales, Santa Genoveva, fue declarada santa patrona de París.

Los reyes Capetos, llegaron tras las incursiones vikingas en el siglo IX estableciéndose en París y haciendo de la ciudad la capital de su reino.
